NEET 2027: exam date, mode and latest updates

Updated 4 November 2026By Nirmal Sunda, NEET mentor at Testline

NTA has not announced the NEET 2027 exam date, registration dates, information bulletin or exam mode. As of 4 November 2026, the date is not in NTA's exam calendar. Past exams give a rough guide, but they do not confirm a 2027 date. Check NTA's official website for new notices.

When will NEET 2027 be held?

The last two NEET exams were held in early May. NTA has not confirmed a date for 2027. Here are the recent dates:

Exam yearBulletin and registrationExam date
2025Bulletin and registration began 7 February 2025Sunday, 4 May 2025
2026Registration opened around 8 February 2026Sunday, 3 May 2026

The dates above are from NTA's 2025 pattern notice and the NEET 2026 registration notice. They show a pattern, not a promise.

If NTA follows the usual pattern, the exam could be on the first Sunday of May 2027, which falls on 2 May. This is an estimate, not an official date. The CBT or hybrid decision could change the usual timing.

When will NEET 2027 registration start?

NTA has not announced the registration dates or released the information bulletin. In the last two years, registration began in February. Treat that only as a guide. Do not rely on dates shared by unofficial sites or social posts. Check neet.nta.nic.in for the official form and notice.

Will NEET 2027 be online or offline?

NTA has not announced the mode. NEET 2025 and both 2026 exams were held on paper. In May 2026, the Education Minister said NEET would move to CBT. NTA then told the Supreme Court it planned CBT from 2027, as reported from its affidavit. Later, the Centre told the Court the change was still under active consideration, with a final decision to follow the Nilekani task force's recommendations. Reports say its term has been extended to January 2027.

As of 4 November 2026, there is no official notice confirming CBT, paper mode or a hybrid exam for 2027. Recent reports say the exam could stay on paper or use a hybrid format. Read the latest NEET CBT mode updates for the dated status and source links.

What is the current NEET exam pattern?

The latest confirmed pattern has 180 compulsory questions: 45 Physics, 45 Chemistry and 90 Biology. The paper is worth 720 marks and lasts 180 minutes. A correct answer gets 4 marks, a wrong answer loses 1 mark, and an unanswered question gets 0.

This is the pattern used in 2025 and 2026. NTA has not announced the 2027 pattern or syllabus yet. The current exam is offered in 13 languages. Wait for the 2027 bulletin before treating any pattern detail as final.

Are there new NEET 2027 rules?

No official 2027 rule changes have been announced. The current age rule is that you must be at least 17 by 31 December of the exam year. There is no upper age limit or attempt cap under the current rule. NTA has not announced a change to these limits for 2027.

Claims about two stages, multiple shifts, or a new mode are not confirmed rules. The Centre has considered single-stage and two-stage options, but it has not announced a decision. Shift count and score normalisation are also undecided. Check the bulletin when NTA publishes it.

What should you do while you wait?

November to February: keep following your current study plan. Do not change your whole preparation based on a date or rule that NTA has not announced.

If you have not used a computer test screen before, practise moving between questions and saving answers. You can try the free CBT practice test and learn how to prepare for a CBT. Treat it as screen practice. It is not an official NEET CBT mock.

When NTA publishes the bulletin, check the exam date, registration window, pattern, syllabus and exam mode in that notice. Save the notice so you can check the details again.
